WE SURE DIDN’T GET THE AMOUNTS OF SNOW FIRST PREDICTED LAST FRIDAY FOR THIS WEEKEND! ORIGINALLY THEY WERE SAYING 6-10 INCHES FOR THE MIAMI VALLEY BUT THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PROVIDES SOME ACCUMULATION REPORTS FROM TRAINED WEATHER SPOTTERS IN VARIOUS COMMUNITIES ACROSS OUR WEEC LISTENING AREA AND THE MOST REPORTED WAS 4 INCHES IN RUSHSYLVANIA, BELLEFONTAINE, LIBERTY TOWNSHIP AND BUTLER COUNTY. 3.5 INCHES WAS LISTED IN WAPAKONETA. 1-3 INCHES WERE THE TOTALS FOR MOST OTHER AREAS. WE’LL TELL YOU MORE ABOUT THE WEATHER IN A LITTLE BIT.

HE WAS TO APPEAR IN COURT THIS MORNING. HE WAS ALREADY SCHEDULED FOR TRIAL ON MARCH 4TH ON SIX COUNTS OF UNLAWFUL SEXUAL CONDUCT WITH A MINOR AND INTERFERENCE WITH CUSTODY ON AN ALLEGED RELATIONSHIP WITH MICHAELA. MARK EDWARDS HAD BOND SET FOR $375,000 AND IF HE POSTED BOND, WOULD HAVE BEEN REQUIRED TO HAVE GPS MONITORING.

LAUREN B. BODEY OF KETTERING WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT THE SCENE IN A CRASH NEAR WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE. OHIO STATE TROOPERS SAY SHE WAS DRIVING NORTHEAST ON STATE ROUTE 444 AROUND 3:30AM WHEN THE ACCIDENT HAPPENED. A PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATION SHOWS BODEY FAILED TO NEGOTIATE THE CURVE, LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, RUNNING INTO THE BASE’S PERIMETER FENCE. THE WRECKAGE WAS FOUND BY A BASE SECURITY FORCES OFFICER ON ROUTINE PATROL.

THE MEN WERE ABDUCTED FROM A HOUSE ON BURGESS AVENUE AND TAKEN TO AN UNKNOWN LOCATION. A THIRD PERSON TOOK THEM TO GRANDVIEW MEDICAL CENTER. THE MEN DID NOT LIVE AT THE HOME ON BURGESS, BUT WAS THERE FREQUENTLY, WILSON SAID. SHERIFF’S DEPUTIES ARE COVERING EVERY LEAD AND ARE TRYING TO PIECE TOGETHER WHAT HAPPENED. LT. WENDY STIVER OF THE DAYTON POLICE DEPARTMENT SAID THE INCIDENT IS BEING INVESTIGATED AS A HOMICIDE.

PLEASE BE SURE TO CLEAN THE SNOW AND ICE OFF OF YOUR WINDSHIELDS! A MAN IN BRADFORD DID NOT AND STRUCK A WOMAN IN A PARKING LOT. TODAY IS COLD AND THOSE FREEZING TEMPERATURES CONTINUE TONIGHT! WITH ALL OF THE WINTERY WEATHER, IT CAN BE HARD FOR OHIOANS FACING HIGH HEATING BILLS. NEW HELP IS AVAILABLE! OHIO’S UTILITIES OFFER FUEL FUNDS, A PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN GAS AND ELECTRIC UTILITIES AND COMMUNITY AGENCIES. THE FUNDS PROVIDE UTILITY BILL ASSISTANCE FOR LOW-TO-MODERATE INCOME CUSTOMERS. DAVE RINEBOLT WITH OHIO PARTNERS FOR AFFORDABLE ENERGY SAYS FUNDS BECAME AVAILABLE TODAY FOR DUKE AND FIRST ENERGY CUSTOMERS. FUNDS WERE OPENED FOR DAYTON POWER & LIGHT LAST WEEK AND RINEBOLT SAYS ALMOST EVERY UTILITY HAS SOME SORT OF ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE. THE MAXIMUM BENEFIT IS BETWEEN $250 AND $500, DEPENDING ON THE FUND. TO FIND OUT ABOUT ASSISTANCE AND ELIGIBILITY, OHIOANS SHOULD CONTACT THEIR UTILITY PROVIDER. OHIO ALSO PROVIDES HELP WITH BILLS THROUGH THE LOW INCOME HOME ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM. RINEBOLT SAYS FUEL FUNDS ARE DESIGNED TO COMPLEMENT THE HEAP PROGRAM. RINEBOLT ADDS THAT FUNDING IS LIMITED AND CUSTOMERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO REACH OUT TO THEIR UTILITY COMPANY BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE.
