KOEHLER SPENDS TIME WITH 8 YEAR OLD NEEDING KIDNEY TRANSPLANT AT WSU

One of the most excited fans at the Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam Thunder Nationals Friday Feb. 1, 2013 at Wright State University’s Nutter Center was 8 year old Ty Clark of Manchester, New Hampshire. Ty, his parents and two brothers made the trip from N.H. thanks to the Make A Wish Foundation. Ty needs a kidney transplant and it looks like his dad, Roy, will be the donor.

Ty’s favorite Monster Truck is the multiple award winning Avenger, driven by Jim Koehler. Avenger, a crowd favorite, was there at the Nutter Center smashing cars, doing donuts and popping wheelies. And shaking the walls, too since Avenger has an ultra high performance engine that puts out some 1600 horsepower and has no muffler system.

Before the event kicked off, Avenger’s driver Jim Koehler sprent about 15 minutes visiting with Ty and his family, posing for pictures and autographing memorbility. Jim answered all of Ty’s questions about Avenger and what it’s like to be a Monter Truck driver.

The Monster Jam Thunder Nationals put on two shows Saturday Feb. 2. The Friday appearance attracted about 7,500 fans.
