(FROM DAYTON DAILY NEWS) PREBLE COUNTY — A Preble County woman was killed early Monday morning after her pick-up truck hit a tree at 2604 East Lexington Road.
Radio reports indicated heavy driver’s-side damage to the truck when they arrived on the scene around 1:30 a.m.
Darke County Sheriff’s Capt. Dean Miller said that the truck was eastbound on Lexington Road, went off the left side into a field, and then came back on the highway and hit a tree.
He said the driver was trapped, and was pronounced dead at the scene. Firefighters used a mechanical device to extricate the victim.
Miller said the woman was wearing a seat belt. He added that deputies will try to determine if alcohol or speed were factors in the accident.
The woman has not been identified.
